Terms of Service
Effective date: 6 October 2026
These are the rules for using Interleaved, written for students and parents. The short version: AI marks are study aids, not official grades; use the service honestly; and paid plans renew until cancelled.
01
About these terms
These terms are the contract between you and Interleaved (“we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of the revision service at interleaved.co.uk. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read and agree to these terms on your behalf, and a paid subscription should be bought by an adult. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of this agreement.
02
The service
Interleaved is a revision tool for UK GCSE and A-Level students. It lets you log lessons and homework (with photos), track topics against the real exam specification, answer practice and past-paper-style questions, get AI marking and feedback on typed and handwritten answers, chat with the Ask study tutor, use spaced-repetition flashcards, sit AI-marked mock papers, browse an index of official past papers, and receive a weekly recap email. Features vary by plan.
AI-assisted, advisory only. Every mark, grade, piece of feedback, transcription, tutor answer and generated question the service produces is an estimate for revision purposes, not an official assessment. Interleaved is not an exam board and no exam board sets, verifies or endorses our marks. Where our output and your school’s or exam board’s marking differ, theirs prevails.
03
Who can use Interleaved
- You must be at least 13 years old. Interleaved is designed for students aged about 14–18.
- If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian’s permission to use the service and they must agree to these terms for you.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
- The service is for personal, non-commercial revision use.
04
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details confidential. You are responsible for what happens through your account.
- One account per person: do not share your account, lend your credentials, or let anyone else study as you (it also makes your mastery data useless).
- Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has access to your account.
- We may suspend accounts that provide false information or pose a security risk.
05
Plans and usage limits
Interleaved offers a free plan and paid plans (such as Plus, Pro and Family). The features and usage limits of each plan are described on the pricing page and in Settings → Billing. AI features consume a shared, metered budget; daily and monthly limits and optional boosts exist so that marking stays fast and affordable for everyone. We may change limits with reasonable notice.
Family plans let one payer cover up to the stated number of student accounts; the payer is responsible for the members’ compliance with these terms.
06
Complimentary and granted access
We may grant free or upgraded access at our discretion, for example to testers, schools, promoters or individual students (“comps” or plan grants). Complimentary access:
- is free of charge and creates no obligation to pay;
- may be changed, reduced or revoked by us at any time without compensation;
- is personal to you and cannot be transferred or sold;
- carries no service-level guarantee.
07
Payments and subscriptions
- Paid subscriptions are bought through our billing provider Clerk Billing and processed by Stripe. Payment details are entered into Stripe’s checkout; we never see or store your full card number.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
- Cancel any time in Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and you keep access until then; we do not refund partial periods except where the law requires or we say otherwise.
- If a payment fails we may retry it and then downgrade the account to the free plan at the end of the paid period.
- We may change prices with advance notice before your next renewal; if you do not agree you can cancel before the new price applies.
- Applicable taxes (including VAT, if it applies) may be added to prices.
- Under-18s: a parent, guardian or other adult should complete the purchase. The checkout link can be sent to a parent’s email for them to pay directly.
08
Your right to cancel and refunds
Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you normally have 14 days from the day a subscription starts to change your mind and get a refund. Because Interleaved is a digital service you can use immediately, if you start using it inside that period (for example by using AI marking or Ask) you acknowledge that we have begun performing the service and we may deduct a proportionate amount for what you used; where the service has been fully performed within the cancellation period, you may lose the right to a refund.
To cancel, use Settings → Billing or email [email protected]. Nothing in this section reduces your statutory rights, including your rights where the service is faulty or not as described.
09
Acceptable use
You agree to use Interleaved honestly and lawfully. You must not:
- use it to produce work you submit for assessment where outside help or AI use is prohibited — including live exams, controlled assessments and non-exam assessments (NEA or coursework) covered by JCQ rules. Submitting AI-assisted work as your own can breach your school’s and exam board’s rules and may lead to disqualification; that responsibility is yours;
- scrape, crawl or bulk-download content, or access the service automatically except through its normal interface;
- share your account or credentials, or buy, sell or transfer accounts;
- upload anything unlawful, harmful or infringing, or other people’s personal data without their permission — remember photos of your work may also capture classmates’ work or teacher details;
- attack, probe, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, bypass usage limits, or try to manipulate marks through prompt injection or similar tricks;
- resell, redistribute or commercially exploit the service or its content.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules (see “Ending the service”).
10
Your content
You own the content you add: your log entries, answers, notes, photographs and other uploads. You give us a licence to host, store, copy, transmit (including to the AI providers that power marking and transcription) and technically process that content so we can operate and improve the service for you. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for residual copies in backups and records we must keep by law.
Only upload content you have the right to share. We may remove content that breaks the law or these terms.
11
Our content and exam board materials
The app, its design, our original and AI-generated questions, and the mark schemes we author belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them inside the service for your own revision. You may not republish or redistribute them.
Exam specifications, past papers, official mark schemes and examiner reports remain the property of their exam boards — AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge International Education (CAIE), WJEC and Eduqas. We index and link to official board sources; we do not host their content. Board and qualification names are used only to identify which courses the service covers; no endorsement by any board is implied. When you use boards’ materials you must follow their own copyright terms.
12
AI output and accuracy
AI systems can be wrong. Marks, mark-scheme breakdowns, transcriptions of handwriting, feedback, tutor answers, generated questions and mock grades may contain errors, and handwriting transcription in particular may misread your work. Check important output against your teacher, the official mark scheme and your own judgement. You can challenge a mark in the app; challenges are re-examined automatically, and you can ask us to review output at [email protected].
Mock exam results and mastery estimates are practice tools, not predictions of real exam results. Nothing in the service is a substitute for teaching, and it is not professional advice.
13
Availability and changes to the service
We provide the service with reasonable skill and care but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at all times — for example during maintenance or provider outages. We may add, change or withdraw features; where a change removes a paid feature you rely on, we will give reasonable notice and you may cancel.
14
Ending or suspending the service
You can stop using Interleaved at any time: cancel your subscription in Settings → Billing and delete your account in Settings → Privacy. Deletion is permanent.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, for fraud, abuse or non-payment, where the law requires it, or after a long period of inactivity. We will give you notice where that is reasonable, but may act immediately for serious breaches such as attacks on the service.
When your account ends, your access stops and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Clauses that by their nature should survive (such as liability and governing law) continue to apply.
15
Disclaimers
Beyond what the law requires, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that AI output is accurate, complete or suitable for a particular purpose, or that the service will meet every expectation. If you are a consumer, none of this affects the legal rights you have that cannot be excluded — including the right to services performed with reasonable care and skill.
16
Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to that, if you are a consumer we are responsible only for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our negligence. We are not liable for business losses or loss of profit (the service is a personal study tool), for losses you could have avoided by taking reasonable steps, or for exam outcomes, which depend on many factors outside our control.
Subject to the first paragraph, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in that period, or £50 if you paid nothing, whichever is greater.
You can download a copy of your data at any time from Settings → Privacy; we recommend keeping a copy of anything you could not easily reproduce.
17
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service or the law changes. The current version is always at interleaved.co.uk/terms with its effective date. For material changes we will give you reasonable advance notice by email or in the app. If you keep using the service after changes take effect you accept them; if you do not agree, cancel your subscription and delete your account.
18
General legal points
- These terms, plus the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us for the service.
- Nobody other than you and us has the right to enforce these terms (the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 does not apply).
- You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We may transfer our side to a buyer of the service, with notice.
- If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we delay enforcing a right, we do not give it up.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- These terms are written in English and the English text prevails over any translation.
19
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and mandatory consumer protections where you live still apply.
